Audition Materials (what to prepare)
Prepare to sing two (2) contrasting selections of serious music. Each piece may be an art song, lieder, chanson, folk song, or hymn setting. Do not select a popular song for your audition piece. Make sure that you selections are contrasting in style. Other than that, it really does not matter what you choose. Simply prepare two songs that will allow you to sing comfortably and show off your voice at its best. You will need to provide your own accompanist.
In addition to your song, the director will check your range, have you sight read a short line of music (on par with the Arizona All-State audition), and run a tonal memory exercise. |
